LAKERS beat the Spurs to claim Western Conference title.
Out of one of the most competitive Western Conference seasons in NBA history, the Lakers have emerged as its champion.They beat the San Antonio Spurs, 100-92, tonight at Staples Center in Game 5 of the Western Conference finals, winning the series, 4-1.
The Lakers advance to the NBA Finals to face the Eastern Conference champion winner between the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. Game 6 of that series is Friday in Detroit, with the Celtics leading, 3-2.
Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 39 points as the Lakers climbed back from a 17-point deficit in the second quarter against the now dethroned champion Spurs.
